I am curious if anyone else has experienced excessive wear on the straps from the WBB tri-ring/webbing setup?
I was looking at my straps last night and saw that there were multiple places on my straps where it appears to be damaged from the tri-rings. It looks like it was compressed too hard and is now permanently creased. In one spot it looks like the friction wore a strip smooth.
I always make sure the straps are flat against the tri-rings and that I have a tight half-hitch behind the rings to keep it from slipping. I weigh about 205# and don't do much moving once inside the hammock. So I am a little surprised that I may need to replace my straps after using this setup less than 20 times.
On my other hammock setups I use the Stapworks Seatbelt webbing and the SMC descending rings and have never had an issue with damage to the strap.
I thought I remember seeing a thread about a related issue, but I don't seem to be able to find it with the search function.
I have thought about moving to a whoopie, but I am still not entirely sold on them.
Thanks,
DG
