GA>Has anyone hiked the Pine Mountain Trail?

I'm thinking about taking a trip there for an overnighter this week. Any suggestions for loop hikes or is best to get a shuttle and hike from end to end? Thanks

Did half of it about a month ago. Started on the east end at the TV tower. went through 3 loops. stayed to the left at the intersections. when i got to the third intersection, made a right, and stayed to the left at the rest of them. Doing it that way, I got to see 3 complete loops. Ended up being around 25-30 miles.

Thanks, I'm going to have the family in tow so doing that distance won't work for an overnight. Do you know of any good 15-20 mile loops or do I need to look for some kind of shuttle? I assume the terrain is much easier than hiking the AT?

Pretty sure they don't have any shuttles. Either that or I haven't been able to find them online. The Wolfden loop is a nice loop but it's only 7 miles or so. Good hanging spots at all the campsites there. I have also hung at the Brown dog campsite. Maybe start at the WJSP tower parking lot head towards the Wolfden then take the boottop trail and tie back into the pmt and complete a loop back to the parking lot via white candle trail. Might put you in the distance you're looking for.

I just got back from there last week. You can make a 20.3 mile "loop" that only overlaps itself for 3.8 of those miles by starting in the middle of the PMT at Mollyhugger Hill parking lot at the 11.2 mile marker. Follow the PMT 11.9 miles to the eastern terminus, then take the White Candle Trail back to Rocky Point (that's the Wolfden Loop). At this point, you retrace your steps heading back on the PMT, but this time, take the Boot Top Trail to cover some new ground. When you come out on the other side, follow the PMT back to Mollyhugger. Should be 11.9 miles to the eastern terminus but only 8.4 on the way back using the connectors.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

If you get on YouTube, look for a guy named Sleeves...I'm pretty sure he is familiar with that trail.

You can still start at the TV tower on the east end. Just do the first two loops. Basically after Dowdell knob, make a right at the intersection onto Boot top Trail. That'll take ya back east again. The east end (wolfden loop) has all the little creeks and waterfalls. Sparks Creek is a nice campsite with water right at the camp.
