I used Permethrin on my clothing on the AT as a tick repellent. Can't say for sure that it worked, but I did managed to avoid any problems with ticks.

Word of advice if you plan on hanging in the warmer months, invest in a mosquito net that will cover the underside of your hammock. I made the mistake of relying solely on a hammock with an attached net, on top, and on one sweaty, humid, 80 degree night, the mosquitos feasted on my back and feet through the hammock. I don't carry an extra net if it's cool enough for any insulation.
Permethrin is great stuff, but if you miss one spot, those little bloodsuckers will find it.
Glad to see another south Louisana hanger join the forum, welcome!
It seems I misunderstood the ToS I was under the impression that starting threads regarding religious content was frowned upon. I was not aware that my signature alone would be deemed a ToS violation. HF for the short time I have been active on it had been very helpful and informative, however I feel I will have to leave the forum at this time. I prefer to be removed/delete from HF than from God. Sorry for inadvertently breaking the rules. This is a great place yall have here, I hope it continues to help new guys like myself. Feel free to delete my account.

Welcome from Alabama. Last time I worked in Louisiana the mosquitoes were the size of turkeys. Turkeys with an attitude , that is!
