I followed the RBTR instructions as far as relative sizes of the shell pieces. The outer shell is cut 2" bigger than the inner shell (an extra 1" on all sides).
Ok. I see it now that I pay more attention. I missed that detail before. I guess I was paying too much attention to the video linked on kit page at RbtR. In that demo he has everything (fabric and insulation) cut to the same size.
The outer shell is on top in this stack. It is face down (face-to-face with the inner shell). You can see how loose it is. This is after everything is sewn together (on three sides), but still turned inside-out.
