Noob with a New Thread Injector! Oh boy! Now I am in troubble!

I pulled the trigger on a thread injector (Singer 4423 Heavy Duty).

In my younger days I use to sew my own outdoor gear (Remember Frostline kits?). I did my own mountain jacket, tent, down parka, bicycle panniers, etc.
So, I have a basic (if rusty) understanding on how to use the equipment.

Question: What thread grades/weights/brands are recommend for outdoor gear? Is there a preferred thread for sewing my own poly straps?

My first project is to custom fit some NRS webbing straps to a kayak trolly (so I can move the kayak between the truck and the boat-ramp).

After that, I want to do the same for Tye-down straps for the kayak.

Eventually, I want to be able to modify my JRB BMBH hammock with some accessory pockets.

Starting small, but as I build confidence, I will do more.

Stay away from cotton...polyester is a good choice.

I have not bought any other thread besides Guttermans sew all polyester thread available at my local store and have not had any problems with it even for tree straps. I'd like to buy some heavier thread but what I use now works fine.

as long as its 100% poly its gtg. all ive used is the wallyworld all purpose poly thread on multiple hammocks, tree straps and tarps and I haven't had a single issue with it. the guttermans is higher quality and just about everyone will recommend that.
