here's an email that ed speer posted on the yahoo group that i thought some might find interesting.

Speer Hammocks is a proud sponser of the 2007
    Kayak4Kure Mississippi
River Canoe Adventure! This is worthy outdoor
    adventure specifically
designed to raise money and awareness for medical
    research for
finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Follow the adventure to date with the teams' video
    clips posted on
    YouTube at:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OU6r88krh2s

A Speer Hammocks instructional video is also included!

Follow the adventures & misadventures of these two
    kayakers as they
make their way down the mighty Mississippi. Currently
    they're about

That was pretty funny. I doubt he really liked sleeping on his stomach though. I tried that just before I dozed off in my Speer this evening. Not a chance.
The whole time he was wrapping the figure 4 wrap I was thinking "Man I love my ring/buckle set-up.
I wish them well and what a great cause.

    That was fun to watch.

I for one wasn't thinking about ring buckles*, I was thinking "I bet BB is watching this and thinking about CC buckles"

    Drop

*Ok, I was thinking about ring buckles. But 4 wrap, rings or CC - still handier than huggers and whip IMHO

You're right, but only because I've got CC buckles on the brain the last couple days...for slightly different reasons than my apparent obsession, too

As far as different suspension methods...I think I'd likely lump the 4-wrap in with the HH hugger setup. It's not as difficult to learn as the HH lashing (that's from others' reported experiences; for some reason I had no trouble with the HH knot) but it's still time consuming. And heavy, since you have to carry around 6' extra webbing on each end. JMO.

That is a funny video. The guy demonstrating the hammock is hilarious.

Ed has to be one of the nicest guys that I have ever met.

LOL - I could n't watch the video last night because the kids were here and I don't do any You-tube videos while children are around (you never know what's going to be in those)
