32 oz of a good Port wine from Warre's like a tawny Warrior just before bedtime ...and you won't have a cold nose...or least you won't care.

Just make sure you have enough for any olde' sailors that are around the campfire.

I have two balaclavas I use.

For cold nights (40's) I use his fleece balaclave. For $10 it has served me well. In fact I also have tops and bottoms of the same fleece.

For real cold nights I switch to a military balaclava like this one. It has a long neck gaitor that keeps out all drafts.

I looked back for some of the discussions on keeping one's nose warm while sleeping in the cold. I didn't find the one I had in mind, were there was talk about wearing a face mask that you breath through, pre-warming the air you breath (respirator?).
But if you search HF for balaclava, you'll find a few threads talking about head gear for sleeping, like this...

Sorry, I'm a caveman and don't know the proper way to post links.

I used a topquilt and wore some merino layers. I only had a midweight layer on my bottom half, maybe that had something to do with it. I also don't think I had it cinched up the way it should have been, but it was too cold to get out and fix it, plus I'm just lazy

Wow! I'm really grateful I found this site.

I had never even heard of an UnderQuilt before I found HF a few months back.

I've been sleeping with wool blankets in my hammock for the last 2 winters, and yeah, that got old, fast.

I can't even imagine crawling into a hammock in the winter without having to fight to adjust 1/2 dozen layers to stay warm.

The quality of my life is really going to drastically improve once I get that Incubator!

No hijacking goin' down here. The balaclavas pull up over your nose to keep it warm (the original question). You do need synthetic as your breath will make it wet from condensation.

For keeping the nose warm.... I use either a fleece balaclava, a fleece neck gaiter, or if it'd be too much having the fleece, my regular buff works pretty well. If it gets damp, it dries pretty quick!
