    Hammock Gear burrow width

Does the wide option make that much difference. The standard width is 50" and the wide is 55". Sintax77 said if he were to buy another TQ he would buy the wide based on his ground sleeping. I personally never plan on going to the ground. Thoughts ?

If you are a side sleeper or don't sleep like a log wide may be better for you. I love my wide TQ and don't think I would have it any other way. For me its more about room to move under the quilt without breaching the seal to let cold air in. I would also add a draft collar and a pocket for the draw cord (both added later) now its perfect for me.

Im about to order a 55" wide TQ and am basing it more on my size and shoulder width. The weight difference is only about 2 ounces, and I want the extra width. I do consider the overall weight of everything, but I'm not a gramtard.

I'm 5'11", sleep on my back, and find the regular size to work fine (even when I sleep on my side sometimes).

Just a thought, but why not buy a cheap fleece blanket and cut it down to the size of your desired top quilt, then try sleeping in it at home to see if that size works for you. Of course, start with the largest size you would want and then trim down through the sizes you think you might want until you get down to the smallest size you think you might want. This should give you an idea of what will work for you before forking out several hundred dollars on a quilt that you might end up not liking.

That is a good idea. I have the Phoenix which is 45" wide, I have warped it around me thinking if it is wide enough. Just don't know if there are any other factors that play into it like the taper of the bag.

The wide version is easier to sleep on the ground with - eliminates it slipping off when you're rolling around, wishing you were in the hammock.

I like the wide. I'd rather error on having too much material than too little.

I have 2 wide burrows. I plan on getting a standard width soon. I feel like the wide may be unnecessary but I will know for sure once I can try a standard.
