Seems perfect to me. If the forecast is good I raise my tarp and will usually go into porch mode with some branches especially if there is water nearby. If a storm is rolling in I lower the ridgeline of the tarp making it closer to my hammock tighten up the rigging. While I prefer more coverage, I recently weathered torrential rainfall in Algonquin Park and stayed perfectly dry, there was no dry spot beneath my hammock.

Different tarps for different trips and weather. I only require 1 hammock and 1 tarp yet somehow I have several of each!

Yeah, more coverage a lot less cash for the beginner. I have the ENO HouseFly, ProFly and WB Superfly as long as you dry what's it matter?
