Hmmmm....mixing and matching quilt ratings is an idea I hadn't considered, yet. Sounds like a good idea.

The quilts I've *mostly* decided on are the JacksRBetter Nest (I have a HH hammock) and Sierra Sniveller--or the winter versions of those two.

    The Xcuse looks interesting, too.

Yes, I've been monitoring the weather reports daily to see what I'm in for, and I have developed a serious respect for what can happen in those mountains.

I was born in Texas and raised most of my life in Texas and am a backpacker, mostly in Texas. I purchased a 20* UQ and an UQP for my 4-season Sparrow hammock by Dream Hammock. Remember that heat rises. I personally would rather have a much thicker quilt that can keep me warm when you have an unexpected cold snap one night than wake up shivering because I am freezing my butt off. I can always open it up a little (not so snug) or drop if off completely and just use the UQP if it stays above 68* at night. Otherwise, I am going to have that snugged up to me to keep me warm at night.
    I am a 28 year-old trapped in a 62 year-old body!

20 degree UQ. 30-35 degree TQ. Pack a down or Primaloft vest for optional sleep wear. That's the way I'd go. God Bless
