Yes, that is what I was talking about. A Kelty rain fly repurposed. Hmmm. Sounds as if Keith is committed to hammocking. I saved some zippers from a tent I "decommissioned"

a year or two ago and am thinking of adding one to a sock for entry/exit. Can't remember what I did with the fly - probably tossed it.

Nice trip pics!

I was wondering how an alcohol stove would be to melt snow. It takes a lot of extra BTU's to convert solid to liquid, then you still have to bring 32° water up another 200°!

I love the challenges of winter camping.

All of the tarps did as well as we expected them to

. There wasn't very much if any room to chill under the smaller diamond tarps though. Not with 35mph wind blown snow anyway. Thats why we all chilled under the Claytor Big Fly 3X4M.

Seems curious that you would use the JetBoil or the alcohol stove when you had a nice fire next to you. For melting snow, that would be my first choice...

Great pictures--thanks for sharing! We just got 2+ feet of snow in Flagstaff and I'm wondering how to get out and hammock!
