Question UQP + fleece blanket for summer UQ

It appears the SnugPak is backordered for 1-2 months. Looking for something for SC summers. I sleep cold and last summer could have used a little bit of something at times. Thinking about getting a UQP and use Velcro to attach a fleece blanket to it. Thoughts?

Make one of these http://theultimatehang.com/2013/02/d...eather-shield/ and lay your fleece inside, if necessary.

UQP + fleece blanket for summer UQ

I can see the description of the kit on the Jacks R Better website, but there does not seem a way to buy it at the moment. What about the UQP from Q2ZQ with fleece?

Instructions for making one are in the link, if that's not working google "dri ducks poncho weathershield". Easy enough to make, fits a bit tighter than 2qzq (which I have and use also), and had more " structure" than an Argon/ripstop UQP. I think you'll have better luck with the dri ducks keeping your fleece in place, but I've been wrong before!!....

I have a 2QZQ UQP and I can tell you that it is designed to hang loosely under an underquilt. It won't carry the weight of a fleece layer well, and it certainly won't keep it close enough to your hammock to provide any warmth. I think you would be much better off with a thin synthetic underquilt. I have been using a 50° EE Prodigy as a supplementing underquilt between my hammock and my 10° HG Incubator to close those tiny air gaps, and it seems to work reasonably well as an underquilt (although it's a top quilt). It would not be warm enough for me to use as an underquilt on its own - but it might do the job for you. Maybe 40° or 30° would be better.

AHE and Locolibre both make proper synthetic underquilts. The summer weights are not very heavy and don't cost much.

    Donna here...
I'm not trying to talk you into or out of anything...just adding information for your decision.

The Argon fabric we are now using is narrower than the 1.1 ripstop we had been using (we still have the olive green in the 1.1, but won't replace it once gone). Thus an Argon UQP will hang more snug against the UQ...although you don't want to compress the down at all.

If you were able to secure your blanket to the hammock somehow, the UQP will help retain the warmth your body will generate...not as good an UQ & UQP of course! ...but good for milder temps.

We also make a UQP that will hold a pad in place. This UQP has longer shock cord channels on the sides and heaver shock cord in these channels. This UQP might be more useful for your use.

You could make a PLUQ, or use a pad until the snugpak arrives.

Or buy an Arrowhead Equipment Jarbidge for $100.

Thanks for all the input. I have decided to dive into the DIY world and convert my Costco throws into summer UQ. Wish me luck. Both my son and I have a DL and we also have Klymit insulated pads, so that is my backup plan.
