I like the idea of an elastic hair tie loop. Since the whole UCR/whoopie thing was introduced, I opted for a 15" constrictor attached on the hammock end and haven't run into any problems. However, I've been pondering a shorter constrictor by use of some kind of tightener on the 'distant' end. I think the hair elastic may be just the ticket. Thanks for the idea.

I think the "frawglight" should be standard equipment. When we need to know the forces applied to our ucr's, we can can just flip on the frawglight.

Thanks for this thread and the frawgpix. My brief experiments with UCRs were slippery, but now I may revisit. I like the idea of hanging things to maintain tension - maybe water bottles. I'm not sure I'll always have room for a 14" bury at each end of the hammock, but when that's the case the main rope would be long enough to loop back to the hammock for a MSH.

FWIW, David, I figure I need at least a foot of tarp overhang on each end of my hammock anyway, so the impact of the bury length is less than one might otherwise think. For me, anyhoo...

I wonder if anyone tried lightly whipping the end of the bury with some elastic cord (or even just a single constrictor knot); seems that would make for a lighter/simpler solution.
