    IL>McKinley Woods>May 21 - biking from Joliet to hang for a night

Thinking about utilizing Metrarail.com network to get from the northern suburbs of Chicago to Joliet along with my bike and hammock. I'd camp for one night, and reverse the trip on Sunday. Anyone who would like to head out from Chicago, it's the Metra Rock Island line. From the Joliet train station (arriving at 12 or 2pm), I might just enjoy riding a few mile south of Channahon along the river, before I ride back to set up my hammock at McKinley Woods for the night. While I've been on a few bike tours, I'm new to hammock camping, and looking forward to this trip. Anyone else interested in the night of May 21? Or riding a few miles?

Maybe. I might already be heading up to Northern Wisconsin that weekend, but my plans fall through then I'm in.

Wish I could make it on the 13th, but I have to pick up my daughter from college....
I also saw somewhere there's the canoe marathon on the 21st.
Nicer weather —more happening—It's all good.

I'll be arriving at the site around 4 or 5 on Saturday.
My train arrives at 2 in Joliet. I'd like to ride for a few hours, and hopefully pick up some firewood along the way.

I'm still unsure if this meetup group will be heading up north in Wisconsin this weekend. If I wanted to join you, is there anyplace I'd be able to park a car and hike in to meet up?

You should just ride and stay at that little campground just passed McKinley because it's $20 to camp for the night at McKinley and on the I&M it is $6

Thanks Gallo, I think i've been confused that the I&M is the same as McKinely woods. Glad to know there's a distinction. How/who/where do we pay the $6?
