Just sprayed all my 3 season hiking clothes, hammock, bug net and folding camp chair with Sawyers Permithrin. Going to be doing some extensive hiking in New England.

That should do it, especially with Picaridin 20% on exposed skin. In MS, I rarely even see a bug with that combo. I also like to spray my pack and some stuff sacks. I'll be interested to see if they have bugs in NE immune to this stuff.

I use the permethrin/picardin combo as well. I hang my clothes, pack, hammock gear and shoes out and mix the concentrate in a sprayer. I spray everything at the beginning of May and again July and once more early September. Use picardin on exposed skin. Never get bit. In the morning when the picardin has worn off I can still sit in the hammock under the tarp with no bugs around me so the permethrin must keep them at bay.

Here's a closeup of my pants after spraying with a fresh batch of permethrin. 19.5oz water/1oz Martin's 10% concentrate. I mentioned this earlier, or was it another thread?

It looks less "glittery" this time and more like the crust on the milk jug after taking off the cap (I hate that!!!) None of this is dust or lint; they're totally clean.

Here's something else interesting. Back in April I mixed a batch in a spray bottle but I wanted to start fresh. So I poured it out to make a new batch. About 5 big clumps of black goop came out! Here's one; it almost looks like mold. I have the new in a semi-transparent bottle, so I'll keep an eye on it.

What carrier (inert ingredients) does Martin's use compared to Sawyer. I've heard some use petroleum base, ect. I've been afraid to deviate from Sawyer's safe ingredients, even though it's more expensive.

I use the Swayers brand ...buy the premixed spray bottle. Works well here in Mich. No bug issues thus far, fingers stay crossed. Also spray backpack. Just need to ensure I’m not down wind when I spray clothes hanging from line outside.

Martins sells both petroleum and without. I use it without. Lying in the hammock as I type. Getting bombarded with every bug in the world here in northern Michigan.

The flies are oppressive. Is it too early to go to bed?

I wasn't sleeping, but zipped up in the hammock by 7pm. The mosquitoes were coating my net.

I did have to jump in the river shortly after the post above. Miserable.
