Anyone hung here? Any tips? We're in a group site in a couple of weeks. Looking for site pointers, or weather tips.

My youngest son used to go out with a MA State park ranger and her advice was that if you camped on the Boston Harbor Islands you needed good set of ear plugs. Also you need to bring your own water. You will be under the flight path to Logan.
Thanks for the heads up about the ear plugs... I camp with scoutmasters, I always have them anyway! LOL.
As far as I know, Paddocks Island has spigots at the campsites now, since they installed the yurts. Bonus!

Take lots of pictures, and report what the tree situation is there please.
I asked about hanging on the islands and Tim's ranger friend at that time, said that there were plenty of trees and hammocking would not be a problem.
- Peddocks Island, not Paddocks Island :-)
- Ear plugs are important - especially if the clouds (ceiling) is low. Then the planes come really close. Landings stop around 1am unless planes are delayed.
- Water and toilets are now available at the yurt area. Plenty of trees, though I've never tried to see how many are suitable for hanging or if there are rules against it since the improvements were made.
- Remember that on the island you'll be cooler than on land, so prepare for overnight temps 5° to even 10° lower than the forecast in Hull if the winds are blowing the right way.
- They're not kidding about the poison ivy. It's everywhere that isn't paved.
- The Globe did a piece about the yurts and camping on the island a couple of years ago: https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/re...K1O/story.html
Good luck.

Men hang out their signs indicative of their respective trades; shoe makers hang out a gigantic shoe; jewelers a monster watch, and the dentist hangs out a gold tooth; but up in the Mountains of New Hampshire, God Almighty has hung out a sign to show that there He makes men.

Such a bummer, we got canceled at noon on Friday because of a small craft advisory for Sunday because of the front that came through..
