Bad freezing from breath condensation!

i sleep with a Buff over my nose, mouth and ears.
microfiber stops exiting moisture...it gets wet, but nothing else does

I'm up for a snow cave. Have to build one between two trees first, though...maybe look for another solution later. We'll see how this winter works out... Might have to invite Cannibal and WBG down for some experimentation.

hammock in a snowcave would be the best of both worlds, although i must admit to being a little afraid of going to sleep with all that snow overhead.

I'll grab a few pics. Done it a couple times now. I've got a new design for this year with a smaller tarp, and easier to dig.

Sounds silly, but I wonder what would happen if you tied a piece of absorbent cloth on your ridge line which hung right above your mouth?

Roadtorque .... I always get that. A sock and stuff just gets full of flakes. I pant I reckon. Gonna fool with WBGuys idea of the netting but I still get ice on it. Fine till I open it and it falls on my TQ. Just try to get it off quickly.
This year I am going to try and make a "bib" out of fleece that goes right on top of my TQ at my mouth. That is were I get it. I tried having my mouth covered and me no like.
My nose is under a fleece mask and I pull my Possum down beanie over my eyes.....
Bib report to come. got a couple of ideas on how to hook it on my TQ.

Shug, with the BMBH I use I keep the netting attached at all points along the hammock from foot to shoulder height. Then I fold the head end of the netting under itself and let it rest on my chest...like a bib. I do that to gain the few degrees of warmth from the netting for my lower half while preventing frost/snow from moisture on the netting around my head. Seems to work pretty well. However, that doesn't prevent the problem of freeze-up around the head of my sleeping bag. I lack the DIY skills but I would really like to replace the netting for something thicker that would hold in more warmth in the winter time.

I have to say: OK, I know it's not worth the weight for most of us. But when I was testing the MWUQ4 at ~11F, I ended up not being quite warm enough on top. I was really pushing my Golight Ultra 20, for sure, but I was wearing lofty- though very light 8 oz pants and 14 oz hooded top, PG clothing to augment, plus hat and neck gator. But before the night was over, I was not quite warm enough. I could have made it, but really not quite comfortable. And I'm pretty sure the main reason was the top part of my TQ was soaked with breath condensation. Had it not been for that, I think I would have been just barely warm enough on top all night.

So I decided to swap out to my heavy 5*F PG bag. I think I even went to the trouble to get inside. It was only a few more hours to time to get up, but man I was so comfy warm! If the the neck/face area got soaked with condensation again(can't remember), it didn't seem to matter with that set up. This was about 0400 and I stayed toasty warm top and bottom until I got up at 0700.
