Might not be appropriate, but I just HAVE to ask: at the time of the rescue, was it more of a "this bloody hurts, get me out of here"-feeling or a "oh my god I get to ride in a blackhawk"-feeling?
We don't know eachother personally and I've only been a member since a few weeks, but stories like these always feel incredibly close. I'm glad you're doing okay given the circumstances, and on your way to recovery!
Glad you are doing well Jeremy.
Your last video sure gives an idea of the slope you were on.
Carolinasbackpacker, thank you for allowing all of us mortals to watch in on your accident, recovery & Healing. Along with others here, I pray for your 100% total healing.
As an outdoors adventurer for many years, it is easy to forget the danger that can do easily grab us.
At your expense (and your hiking buddies), I have learned several valuable pieces of knowledge/gear to add to my bag.
You Rock Jeremy. Literally, Jeremy beats rock & comes out the winner! Again, thank you for allowing the documentation of your event & may you heal quickly. God speed, knee mail on the way!
I definitely wanted to get out of there but at the same time I wanted to document as much of it as possible... Shug and I talked early on about doing video... I'm glad to have it... turns out shug's video of the rescue will be used for training purposes. Make s me feel somewhat goo that some good will come out of the accident.
But to be quite honest... I was pretty doped up by the time the blackhawk got there and was pretty excited about the ride

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.
This coming Saturday will be one month since the fall. The weeks have definitely had their up and downs but I’ve remained in good spirits throughout. The biggest issue I would say I’ve had has been with muscle spasms causing discomfort at night leading to lack of sleep. The lack of rest has zapped my energy on some days to the point I did not get out of bed except for therapy.
Today I went for my 1st follow up with the Doctor that did the surgery on my knee. Overall a very good report in progress of the healing. I can now leave the brace unlocked as long as it’s comfortable to me. I have good strength in the knee joint and they are seeing the proper movement. The only “issue” is that I am at 70* range of motion active assisted bending of the knee so I am behind the 90* they would like me to be at this point. Although not a huge deal, the doctor wants me to get more aggressive with the therapist in working the range of motion in the weeks to come. Everything else is progressing as it should. I am making progress by leaps and bounds in PT and could possibly be going home in a week or two.
For now, I just have to continue to stay focused and put in the work. I will be returning to the doctor in 5 weeks where they will do x-rays of the reconstructed area of the knee. If all goes as planned, I will begin weight barring and assisted walking mid-July…
Thanks again for all the thoughts and well wishes! They are greatly appreciated!

Great to hear you're recovery is progressing, thanks for sharing! Good luck with therapy.

Give me more folly said the fool,
Give me stone silence said the deaf man,
