Thank you very much, Engel rammsteini!

Your tool can be very helpful and it looks like that it works perfect. I tried it with a Kyocera laser printer. My brain rocks.

It includes another nice feature which should be noted. It calculates exactly the length of any catenary curve and it can be used for radian measure calculations too.

Can you explain the "Number of Points" option?

Enable "Show points" and you can see all the points that are calculated. If you choose very few points it will result in an angular line. Too many points result in a "funny" curve. You have to find the best number of points for your curve.
The attached images show 5, 50, 500 and 5000 points.

OK, similar to the arc and circle smoothness setting in AutoCad. Thanks!

Great tool rammsteini! But, I think something must not be right, because increasing the number of points shouldn't change the overall shape of the curve, just the smoothness.

Divide the distance in mm by 25 (or 50) and round the result off to an even number. Take the result as the number of points. Then you should get about one point for any (two) inch in distance. It looks like that the distance between the points is not evenly distributed. This can be a bigger problem, but only academic. For a fast printable cat cut template the tool is all you need. Don't forget the seam or hem allowance!

I wrote this a month or two ago and I can't remember where I found the pieces of the algorithm that I copied and pasted together. But for me it works. But feel free to send me some code - in almost any programming language. If it works, I will update my generator.

It is easy to steal and understand your code and I have no doubts that you did a very good job writing a nice interface application. I copied the following files:

    - catenarycurve.html
    - catenary.js
    - jspdf.debug.js
    - css/bootstrap.css
    - papers.png

The main problem for me is to understand this jsPDF class besides the catenary curve math in function calc. The open source code library is complex. Presumably it is very rewarding for many other reasons too, to look at this code in more detail. It will last a while before I completely understand what you did.

the only important function is calc() in caternary.js. It calculates the y values for the given length, sag and number of points.
