Yup...that's what I do with mine. Has the added benefit of being able to pitch the tarp without having to open my pack; a definite plus if it's raining.

I have a mesh bag that my climbing harness came in. Has a small carry loop on it. I hang it on the outside of my pack so water can drip off.

[QUOTE=TrailSlug;1628761]Thanks guys. I wish my Gregory Baltoro had a mesh outer pocket for storing the web tarp. I'm thinking about putting it in a trash compactor bag even wet as it will not dry that much during wet weather. At least this way it will keep all the water in one confined area and keep everything around it from getting wet.[/QUOTE

Keeping a wet tarp in a waterproof "anything" will just allow the tarp to become wet- inside/ outside because it is sitting in a puddle of trapped water. I think you will be happier using a mesh or NOT h2o proof pouch strapped to the lower/ outside of your pack. Happy hangin , stay dry

Thanks guys. The mesh "pouch" is an excellent idea. Now to find one that my tarp will fit into. Thanks for the suggestions.

Roll it up wet, and fold it into sections long enough to fit under my straps on my Baltoro. Works great!

Are you referring to the bottom straps?

Yes. The ones that are over the sleeping bag compartment, it works great. Strap them on after you have packed and tightened your pack. If they are dry, I put them inside. I'd rather not have anything on the outside. I've done it several times and it works great. I am much more careful when I take my pack off and put it on the ground. Dont want a holey tarp.

Shake, Skin, Stuffsack on outside of pocket of pack. I like to keep my tarp protected as much as possible from any thorns, sharp sticks or eagle attacks.
