    Slings on a Hennessey

OK... I think this is the right place.

I received my Hennessey Ultralight today, and got right to tinkering. I removed the stock suspension from the hammock body. I came up with 2 options to add whoopie slings to a Hennessey.

First I copied the stock connection and placed the tail under the loops and then brought it back around and under again...

No fixed eye, just straight rope. It does hold, but Im afraid as its manhandled without tension it could work loose. Further testing would need to be done. I could just tie a stopper knot in the tail as it leaves the body up to the adjustable end, but want to avoid knots.

Second is with a fixed eye...

Then I just pulled the end of the eye back over the body...

I know this holds and no chance of it coming undone.

The other end would be the normal adjustable loop of a whoopie sling.

Make sure you dont let the ridge line loop get sucked back into the hammock. Probably not impossible to retrieve...but easier to just pull out some slack as you are untying the stock suspension.

I just duplicated the Hennessey stock attachment and tucked the leftover back through a hole and under one of the lines.

    Works great.

Something so decadent about tossing up your Hennessey without having to mess with the stock lines.

    What line did you use?

Im finding that with the Amsteel, its to slippery to "lock" on its own through friction. Whats going on is the suspension end that leaves the hammock, when unloaded, wants to slide back towards the hammock and loosens up the wraps.

I may try tying a stopper knot in the end. I like the idea of just having the adjustable loop of the whoopie in the line.

    Amsteel Blue ...

I'm taking the Hammock out on a Hang saturday so I'll try to get a pic (since I can't remember EXACTLY how I did it.)

    I look forward to that.

I think my apprehension is re-rigging someones hammock, sending it back to them and it coming undone. For my use, Id be satisified with duplicating the Hennessey knots... Bot someone that didnt take it apart in the first place, wont have a clue how to put it back together should it eventually work itself loose.

More testing is a must and I look forward to your results. Manhandle it as much as possible.

Tucking the left over tail back under somewhere will probably work but Amsteel is insanely slippery so I would leave the end covers off so you can keep an eye on it.
