Earlier this month I scavenged the down from an old bed quilt in order to fill a light, summer-weight UQ I made. Even after stuffing that quilt, I found myself in possession of about 53oz of down of an unknown FP. Since my travel pillow recently sprang a leak I figured I'd make a down pillow as my next project.
It appears that the DIYs I've seen are around 12" x 18" and have about 3 or 4 ounces of down in them. I was planning on having a partial baffle down the middle to help prevent my head from sliding off the pillow. Additionally, I figured I'd add some shock cord and a mitten hook to attach it to the hammock suspension to keep it in place. Does this all sound about right?
After the pillow, I'll be left with about 50 oz of unknown FP down. Is there a market for this stuff? Would $4 or $5 an ounce be too much? Right now, I've got it in random weight ziplocks, between 3 and 6oz each. If I need to repack it into 1oz bags, or if it's going to be more trouble than it's worth to ship it I may just keep it instead. If that's the case, do I need to get it out of those ziplocks and into a pillowcase?
