Can I use my down bag as an underquilt with SS?

Hey guys, I have a deluxe explorer with SS and the 2Q zipper mod. I do not have a UQ.

I hear of others putting their down jacket and other materials in the SS to increase it's capability.

I have 2 cabelas 20 deg boundary waters bags and typically use one as an TQ with the SS. I thought about buying a UQ but can't I just loosen the SS and place the opened down bag in the SS, below the heatsheet and above the OCF and be sure that it is not compressed?

Isn't this the same thing as an underquilt other than the nice fit?

Yes you can. I used my PeaPod with an SS just as you described. Was very comfortable down to 11*.
