    First trip with a hammock

I am a very longtime backpacker. I've always slept in a tent.

I recently purchased a hennessey ultralight backpacker. I am going to try and use it for a three day trip.

The weather is expected to be 50°. I have no idea what to do about it under quilt.

Reflectix sure is warm but has made me sweat when I have slept directly on it in a tent.

I do have half a dozen Costco Down throws that I could apply to the situation

I would love to hear feedback from anyone that has any knowledge to impart here

What do you have for top insulation? If you have a really good top quilt/sleeping bag you may be able to get buy with a Walmart sleeping pad along with the reflectix under that. Is this hammock a double layer hammock?

It's a single layer. I am extremely concerned about weight. Call me a gram weenie

I have a ultra light 20° sleeping bag that's probably only really good for 40° that I plan on using as a top quilt

I've been using a Thermarest Z Lite Sol Pad for my hammock until I get an underquilt. It's 11.2oz. It works for me right now and my backpacking. I'm not ultralight, though. My pack usually is around 25ish pounds or less with food and water. My only complaint about the pad is how it has to attach to my pack.

my first nights out, i had a normal blanket and used ducktape to make it into an UQ. looks weird, but works perfectly well. an UQ is awesome and by most condidered to be the best option to keep ur butt warm... this way u could try one out without spending $$$

Gemini UQ is probably the most elegant solution

quick and dirty is the faux yeti that some of us have come completed. super simple sewing job that can be easily removed if it's not to your liking
