Both Friday and Saturday were wicked windy and using the side pull outs with trekking poles didn't do enough to keep the tarp off my side. Pretty annoying for sure.
I bought my MamaJamba from a forum member and it cam with pockets and tie down for the pole mod, but I had yet to try it until today. I had quite a few lengths of fiberglass rods and sourced some steel collars to join the pieces together. No doubt my materials are a bit too flexible and far to heavy for trail use but they work perfectly for testing and all I can say is wow!!! There is a ton of room with pole installed. I also tried one corner up in porch mode with the pole installed and it is equally cool with the windward side pulled all the way out.
Now to find the best source for lighter sections that are short enough to be pack friendly..
