    Here's the setup
On the side of the failure, the hook was right side up I believe.

As many times as I've hung this in every which way... I'd be surprised is that was the cause of the failure. I
Side that failed was setup according to diagram??? Picture says otherwise

Been hanging them "every which way" and you're surprised it failed?? I'd be surprised to see the manufacturer replacing them.....except it's Dutch.

No worries, it happened so quick and I was so concerned as to what failed I jumped right up. I was only 10" off the grass.

The picture shown is that of the side that did not fail. The picture unseen is was setup correctly.

Thank you for that much needed input. I'll pay closer attention next time. I'm still shocked it broke.

Replacements are not necessary but I'd sure appreciate it. I'll mail you the other one that is in contact incase you want to stress test it.

On the bright side of things... this brought me back to the forum. Life has caught up with me and it's nice to see familiar name.

Have to disagree with that, he isn't pretty awesome, he is awesome. Look up awesome in the dictionary and its a picture of Dutch.

Had a similar incident with a product failure and Dutch replaced it. Found out months later when a buddy fessed up to be a bumbling baffoon and tripping on my guylines multiple times in one night, that it wasn't an issue with the ridgeline. They can only take so much abuse before snapping.

Anytime someone asks about hanging gear, Dutch is always at the top of my recommendations.

    Failure

I broke a Dutch clip once, but I know what went wrong. I stretched my hammock between two trees that were too far apart, and did not hang at the proper angle. I knew it wasn't ideal, but I tried it anyway, and that clip snapped and then I was on my butt. Very painful lesson to learn!
