    New from Woodstock, GA

Hi all. New hanger in Woodstock. Planning on taking my XLC out for the first time next weekend. Any places in GA that aren't hammock friendly? A coworker told me you can't hang on Army Corps of Engineer land. Can anyone confirm or deny? Have a car camping trip planned for next weekend with some ground dwelling friends and they are pushing for a Corp managed campground. Would like to go somewhere else if I'm gonna have to go to ground. Always looking for good kid friendly (8&9) hikes in N Ga as well. Thanks in advance for any info and/or suggestions.

Welcome from Marietta! I have been to McKinney park many times and have never had an issue. Even had some rangers check out our setups.

Another welcome from Marietta. You shouldn't have a problem hanging anywhere in Georgia unless you are hanging from the front porch of a ranger station.

Welcome from the Lake Oconee area. Most state parks allow hanging, but to be safe I'd call and ask. The latest one I personally have called was Hard Labor Creek State Park. They told me initially that no one had ever asked and they'd have to check. I called back next day and was told hammocks are allowed so long as you stay within your assigned campsite.

Far as I know from reading the regulations, dispersed camping is fine in the WMAs, so I interpret that to include hammocks.
