Amsteel 3/16

So I found some amsteel 3/16 cord at the load west marine. 0.39 a foot which is cheap. Good for 1200#

I now have just 12' long harbor freight straps, but this stuff is so light and cheap, I am thinking about doing the entire suspension out of it, IE lark the end at the hammock, then out to a tree strap.

So what is the setup for just cord.

Any one of these better than the other ??

How much cord would you set up for each end ??
I am thinking 12'-15'

24 feet would cost me about $10.

well, Redden Marine has 7/64 Amsteel for $0.15 a foot (1600 lb breaking strength)
this very long thread will tell you how to make whoopie slings...

I would agree ... I've made three sets from 7/64 and it's easy to work with .... it's certainly cheaper!

tammons - Something's not adding up here. Amsteel 3/16 is larger than 1/8, which has a breaking strength of 2400# if memory serves me right. Are you talking about 7/64?

As far as length, 12-15' of line per end to make the whoopies is fairly common.
