Massdrop has a Vargo Ti 8-pack of stakes that looks pretty interesting. It has including two each of the following: Ultralight nail pegs, Regular nail pegs, Hook tent stakes (with fluorescent orange heads), and Ascent tent stakes. $21.99 + $2.75 S&H. I thought this was about steaks, not stakes.

I guess that's what happens when you talk about stakes right before lunch.

Is there a significant advantage of these over generic with-the-product steel stakes? I.e. are they worth the dough?

"with the product" stakes? You mean like from a tent? Oh hell yeah. Steel is either too heavy or else it bends too easily. Personally, aluminum stakes work fine for me as I only use 4 for my winter tarp, and only 2 in the summer. I use MSR groundhog minis. These Vargo's are on the expensive side, but not too much so given the Massdrop discount. Titanium is lighter and harder than aluminum, and you'll always pay more for that.

I was under that impression too. Recently, I learned the Ti is actually heavier. It seems that the increased strength allows manufacturers to use less matterlial for enqal strength which results in a lighter product.
