I prefer my Blackbirds over any Clark I've slept in so far. If you carry a significant other with you, the Clark Vertex is a lovely piece of gear. I like the Clarks for their engineering; they are just plain neato! But for me, the gadgets and gizmos don't equate to the same level of comfort as the Birds. JMO

I have a Clark NA , I don't use a underquilt and have an old old (35 yr old) sleeping bag and an exercise pad inside the hammock. I feel comfortable pretty much through any cold weather we get down here. I very seldom use the weather shield ,I do stuff my outside pockets with my gear and that helps. I'm sure the blackbird is just as good but I can only to the speak to the Clark

I have long distance hiked in the speer and bear mountain bridge hammocks and in the southeast we almost always run into heavy rains and I was looking into the clark jungle hammock. Manny have suggested the BB but I don't know if I could get used to putting my feet into the extra pocket for comfort.

It lays just like any other gathered end hammock, only flatter. It's not like there's an extra pocket to stick your feet into...just that your feet aren't as elevated as in other gathered end hammocks. Nothing to get used to, really.
“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” ~Judge Joseph Story
