    Kokomo Suspension

My latest suspension is on YouTube. It's called Kokomo and it may be listed under my name, David Hughes, or under Phantom Grappler. It is a single line type suspension. And it's best to watch Carolina Red suspension first--as parts of both suspensions are similar and some of those parts are shown in more detail on Carolina Red. After watching Jaxx video of single line suspension-I was inspired to make a single line suspension with no hardware and the fewest and simplest knots possible. The only knots tied each time are a larks head from eye splice around gathered end hammock. Also a slip knot is tied each time. These are simple knots that can be tied in the dark.
The hammock is bagged separate from tarp and tarp is set up first and taken down last. There are NO small parts to lose and the entire suspension stays attached to tarp. Weaknesses--tarp must be set up to set up hammock and there are very few adjustment points. And this suspension is tarp and hammock specific so you should not use this suspension on another tarp or another hammock if either is a different length. Please insert video in this post
    Thank you for watching!

Kokomo suspension can be setup Fast as there is no Fiddling with anything. You don't even center hammock under tarp--it's in there.

I think the link above is incorrect.

I did find the youtube by searching for Kokomo suspension & enjoyed the video.

Thank you, dudeman-atl, I might make another video of Kokomo suspension, to show its ease of use during setup. And I might make locked brummel eye splices on both ends for hammock attachment. That splice with double overhand knot, while easy and effective, looks sloppy. OldFourHats has told me I can put locked brummels on both ends, without doing the Toss Inversions since there is access to both ends; all I gotta do is splice one end and spliced end can be pulled through second locked brummels with a little effort. Kokomo suspension takes some work to build--then it's really easy to set this rig fast.

Looks interesting and very efficient I imagine once it's set up.

What's the upper weight limit on the Carolina Red suspension?

Dutch's stronger Kevlar straps rated at 2500 pounds--87 grams is weight of a pair of 12 foot straps. And 1/8 Amsteel is rated 2500 pounds.
If you allow for knots weakening this rig--it has to be less than 2000 pounds. It could derated to 1000 pounds. I've used it--and the slip knot does not slip!

David,I have not been truly attracted to single line suspensions before, but this one has caught my eye. You shared the larks head onto kevlar strap with me at the smoked butt hang and I was interested. Now the rest of the story makes me want to set one up. Thanks again for thinking outside the box.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.
