Just recieved my LR UQ! Post office held it hostage for a day It is well worth the wait. The craftmanship is exceptional! Different colored biners for each end is a well thought out touch. Would like to do a full on review but I am off to play....

Here are a few pics, of the Arrowhead Equipment KAQ Lost River

    Thanks Paul!

My Lost River UQ arrived today! I have the box, but the boss says I have to wait till Christmas! AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!

Hmm... maybe If I open it anyway, I'll be relegated to the doghouse, which means I can sneak out to my hammock with my new UQ!

Maybe not the best idea... I guess I'll just have to learn patience...

    Lol too true!

Actually, I'm normally the one that tells them "Santa won't come if you're not in bed!" Then we check The Norad Santa site, check a video or two, and they run for bed...

I'm sure my son will be up at 5, they have strict instructions to not wake us before 8, but they're so excited, we rarely make it past 7...

    Merry Christmas!

I opened my Christmas present today, and was thrilled with what I found: A lost River UQ.

First: Packaging: It was in a laundry mesh bag (an unexpected surprise), with a red silnylon stuff sack.

Upon inspection I found the workmanship to be excellent, with a number of details well thought out:

The 2 drawstring channels were appropriately sized, and filled with 1/8" shock cord. The cord is stopped by micro-cordlocks on either end. The channel was sized perfectly, so the micro-cordlocks don't slide in the channel, but the shock cord slides effortlessly.

4 Grosgrain corner tie-outs are connected to (I'm guessing) 3/16" shock cord, which is tied on one tie-out, with a cordlock attached to the other side. (I like the use of the cordlock type that is fixed to the grosgrain ribbon.) The supplied Hammock Forums micro-biners are a nice touch...

Color: Black inside, with digital camo exterior. Fits my DIY Speer hammock perfectly, with plenty of cord to spare.

Tonight, at 11:30pm, it's a balmy 42 degrees in San Diego. I lay in my hammock for about 30 minutes with a cotton t-shirt, jeans, and socks.

I found the 44" width to be more than adequate. This is my first non DIY, non-full length underquilt, and I was apprehensive about the length. I found with the UQ just above my shoulders (ok, mid-skull), with a diagonal lay, the UQ came to about mid-knee. At first, I had it too loose, but one quick adjustment, and I immediately felt the warmth being reflected back to me. I lay there for 15 minutes with no blanket, and was surprised at how warm I was. Since I mostly do 3-season hiking, this quilt, at just over a pound, is perfect for me...

Paul: Thanks for the wicked quick shipping, and excellent workmanship!

I'll have another update after I spend the night in the backyard...

    Merry Christmas!

    John in San Diego
(looking for somebody to join me in a S24O in late January - I'll drive)
