For what it is worth, the little grocery market in Sunbury (about three miles from the park) was closed when I drove US 158 past Merchants Millpond in early September. I believe this means that the closest grocery store is in either Ahoskie or Elizabeth City so, plan ahead.

I'll miss that place because it had great pigs knuckles and chicken feet. Mmm, good.

That store was closed back in April when we were there for the spring hang. It had been going downhill for awhile.
