I treat my Sportsmand gear guide tarp just like I treat my sons & husbands tents. And I mean the word "treat" in the form of using a can of tent sealent spray!! I just never thought about it. I treat all tents with that sort of material with the spray before I ever let my son or husband go camping in them. I use the gear guide tarp and I've never had any leaks with it. I've got the white tarp.

What product is appropriate for sealing PU tarps? The stuff @ ChinaMart is silicone based.

Good question oldgringo.
I have been spraying Camp Dry on my Claytor Diamond Fly. Is that a bad thing to do? It has been working well for 2+ years.

There is clearly a need for good quality camo tarps. I wanted the Sportsman one listed here and it was never in stock, so I reached out to the general folks and had one made for me from a fellow member. There is a lot to it, as mine is not sil , but close. Sill is not strong enough to handle the numerous inks and after treatment bead up to water. But I too would have bought an old one and re-treated it. A spare is a good thing to have in the woods.
FYI The Sportsman Camo is so badly in and out of stock someone with a cottage garage mentality can compete with these guys and charge a little more for workmanship!
I set one of ours up for a dinning fly at the recent Texas Hanging, and I had condensation on the inside of the tarp, going to treat the outer and see if it helps. If it doesn't then I'll be putting ours up for sell on here

I've got the SG 12x12 tarp (the one w/o poles). Put it up tonight, hanging it on the square as a tarp tent with doors.
But when I measured the ridgeline it was 10'6" not 12'. What gives?

measuring the ridge line while hanging this tarp on the square is shorter!!! For me to hang my SG tarp tarp on the square, I'd have to sew in more tabs for the guylines. Now if you hang it from the corners (like in a diamond shape instead of square), your ridge line will be much longer.
I've got to also say that I've never actually put a tape measure to my tarp. And now thinking about it. The square set up really should give you a 12' ridge line. Unless, of course, this is that new fangled type math!!!????
