Thank you to all the folks who ask questions and for all the folks who answer them! I have greatly appreciated all of your insights and foibles and successes to learn from. Last week I finished (for now) my hammock set-up.
IMAG0502.jpg IMAG0501.jpg
RSBTR 12' Hex tarp from silpoly membrane (my nod to LNT coloring)
Double layer 1.0 HyperD gathered hammock (hot pink and Morroccan blue)
NS50 Noseeum bug net
Webbing tree wraps
Amsteel whoopie slings
Hot pink multi-buckles
DIY Enlightened Equipment Revelation quilt (royal purple)
I am so happy with the results. The colors are bright and beautiful and just what I wanted. Sleeping in the hammock has been great even with loads of mosquitoes, a night of hard rain, and nights of cool, clear weather all snug and warm off the ground. So light! So comfy!
The materials and hex tarp instructions came from RSBTR. The instructions for making the hammock and bug net came from DIYGear.com. The quilt was made at home but based on Tim Marshall's Enlightened Equipment Revelation and his tremendous support and encouragement. You can bet I support these businesses every time I get the opportunity to do so.
My Boy Scouts and Venture Crew are all looking forward to learning how to make their own hammock set-ups.
