Hawk-eye,
Your pictures show the Equinox sil tarp almost an olive green the Campmor site has it looking almost Aqua green,,,,
Is it the darker green?
The webste also states ,,, "Nylon ties sewn in on center seam for more pitching options"
Do you know how many and approx locations of the tie outs?
That Chinoock tarp is no where to be found....
I am looking for something that the ends can be closed up....
Thanks.

Check out the Equinox site ... yes there is the old kelly green and the darker green. Call Campmor and find out what they have in stock.
You can definitely close the ends up on the 10x12 and it works great. Check out this photo.
Wish I could help you on the tie outs ... I'm overseas at the moment and can't check it but maybe you can get an idea from the photo

Sorry I can't get you more detail pal. But it really gives you enough tarp to do several configurations. Pretty good bang for the buck. I made some of those green thera band tarp tensioner's and they work really well for me. I don't use them on the ridge lines ... just on the four outside corners and in the Gorge (Oct 09) they kept the slack out of the sil in that first rainy day and night we had.

So does anyone have the weight of the Chinook 14x12 tarp? Is it really 3 pds or closer to 1.5? I was thinking of purchasing this so that my wife and I can hang side by side but since I will most likely be lugging this monster up and down the mountains, I want to make sure it won't break me.
In my opinion, 14x12 is more than is needed for side by side. MrsMustardman and I regularly hang together under a 12x10 and it works quite well. We got ours made by OES, with some custom tieout options, and it's 26.5 ounces with stuff sack AND DIY snake skins (we generally only bring one or the other) - reasonably light for what it is. If weight is an issue, the Chinook probably isn't your best bet.
How about these dark green tarps?
On one hand, dark colors are hotter than lighter ones. On the other, the darker tarps should make for denser, cooler shade.
How does this play in the real world? Cooler, warmer, or is it a push?

Just received mine and I'm confident that it's NOT 1.5 lbs. That said, it's not quite 3 lbs either.
Compared to my GG 12 x 12 this thing is HUGE, not only in coverage but also when it's rolled and packed. I'm trying to find a way to pack it down to half the size of the stuff sack like the GG tarp, but it seems to like to take up most of the room in it's stuff sack.
Overall I'm happy with the tarp since I'm more of a car camper than a backpacker, and this will allow my wife and I to have our own tarps, or combine the two to create a really big shelter.
Anyone want to watch our kids this weekend while we field test this new purchase?
