it is worth remembering that you can make one kick *** tarp (i.e. 12 X 10 feet) for as little as 8 yards of rip stop nylon and some mineral spirits mixed with silicone. That will end up costing you about $25.00 US here in Canada it costs a few $s more). What's more: it is easy to do...

that I didnt' order the JRB grib clips sooner. That's about it. Also haven't done so yet but will be putting it two grommets to create "doors" for the other end as well. I've been toying around with the idea of getting a MacCat Del but really givin' the cost vs. weight savings (think mine is around 2lbs, maybe 2.5 but I really don't think so) it'll probably end up being the last thing I get/replace. Not to mention I absolutely LOVE the coverage, I could just imagine weather coming in on the trail and being stuck under your tarp. Corners were reinforced and are GG loops, not metal rivets, seams are taped and sealed.. first night pitched was in rain and wind, performed flawlessly.

Can someone that has one of these describe the coating? I don't understand the 2000 mm coating. 2000 milimeters is 2 meters. Thats 6.5 feet.

Maybe I misunderstand what they are advertising, but it seems like I have seen this "2000mm" coating description before.

Can anyone shed light on this?

I believe it has to do with being waterproof with a 2000mm column of water standing on it (or something like that).

    edit...here's a link...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterproof_fabric
