I have always liked these types of hammock stands because they can be made to fit any size hammock and still be semi-portable.

That said, I have to admit, I wouldn't want one because of the wood under me. I wouldn't want to hit that in case of hammock failure. I would opt for maybe a leg on either side like an "A"frame connected to each other and hinge on top or TDS or even pipe. Either way, with no bar or such under me.

Other than that, It sure is a very nice looking stand. Good Job. For your next stand, make it out of large diameter bamboo. I love bamboo.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Thank you for the nice comments :-)
The wood used was the cheapest available in hardware store, i believe it is pine but not sure. It took me quite a while to find all straight pieces, otherwise you can not fold it together.
The wood is 6x6 cm, which is something like 2.3 inch ?

Due to a lot if interest in the design, I made a drawing of it, with dimensions (metric, sorry, but here you can re-calculate it), and posted it on my blog:

If any questions, let me know.

Those wheels are for transport.. Not needed if you have a lady who is not interested in using it. If she does.., you'll need them :-)
