Well my new tarp showed up today (Thanks Scott!) and I ran off to the woods on my lunch break to hang it up and take a look. I didn't have a lot of time to play around with it but snapped a few pictures and thought I'd share.
From Scott's Site: "This is the same tarp as the Winter Dream v.1, but with some added features and a slight redesign. The short ends are straight cut which allow for a complete enclosure. It also has three small loops along each side, with corresponding double-mitten hooks to close off the ends securely. The long sides are still catenary cut to provide a taut pitch."
The first two pictures show the tarp up with both sides closed. The next two show with one side opened up. The last two show a closed end from both the outside and inside of the tarp. Note the way ends are straight now. The clips for closing the ends are easy to get on and off but I'm not sure how well they would work in gloves.
As usual, it was raining here in the pacific northwest. The tarp went up quickly (relatively considering I was cutting and tying my lines as I went along. I didn't realize how tight I needed to pull the tarp and the cheap cotton string I stole from my office cabinet on my way out the door couldn't handle the stress and so I had a hard time keeping things tight.
Now that I have my first tarp I'm ready to get out and do some hammock camping. Hopefully soon! Thanks Again Scott!
