I thought this would be a good time to bring up an alternative to pounding stakes into the frozen ground. Last year at Mt Rogers I used these and they worked well. They were simply made from scrap silnylon...everybody has some of that right?...and some guyout line. Smaller rocks, pieces of downed wood, snow, anything can be put in them. They can be buried in the snow with a snowball inside. When it sets, it will hold as a guyout point.
