    Cool First DIY hammock

Just finished my first DIY table cloth hammock and whoopies this evening, Very pleased with the results and the ease of construction thanks to information gleaned from this forum. Forgot to take pics of first hang, it is a loud purple and so cool. I would encourage anyone thinking about this to go for it. Taking a line from Shug, WHOOOHOOO BUDDY!!!!

Just a reminder: The last step in any DIY project is posting pics on the forum.

Congrats! It is very gratifying to use a piece of gear you actually made, IMO. My wife and I love our DIY TCF hammocks!

Pics, first try at ridgeline,, needs to be a bit longer. maybe will make an adjustable ridgeline and keep it for figuring out new hammock lengths.

Nice hammock, Katman. Like johnspenn said, "It is very gratifying to use a piece of gear you actually made..." I couldn't wait to test my first DIY hammock. And then dialing it in, making mods etc. Have fun with it! BTW, there was a deer checking out your sewing skills.....

Thanks, buck looks like swiss cheese up close, also a turkey in first pic and deer in second.

Need to add the knotty mod yet and build a stand for deck, agree very gratifying.

You may not need the knotty mod with the whipped ends. My last diy hammock was whipped and I found I could remove some of the slack by loosening the whipping and pulling the slack out. Just a thought.

wa4chg, I used the W fold method, will play with folds, thanks. Next time I may try the accordion fold and pull the ends out a bit before whipping. Still may go with knotty mod just to practice it for future efforts.

Marlin was ducking for cover, lol.

OK on Marlin... Let us know how the experimenting with different folds go. I only tried one type.
