    Yeah, I think the beaks are a great option. I might consider one for 3 season use on my Deluxe when there is wind blown rain. I don't think I'd want to use my Deluxe for winter though because the sides aren't tall enough. I'd want something at least 10 feet wide for winter so you can pitch all the way to the ground. I suppose with a Deluxe you could build some snow up around the outside of the tarp in a pinch to close off the gap on the sides.

    your winter in MN is much harsher than our winter in PA pizza i didn't say it'd be pretty, but i could probably hang a night into the low teens. honesly though it's just as simple to sleep on the ground in the winter (shhhhhhh)

    Thanks Grizz... just what I need: something else I want!

    Looks really good. Even one would do the trick. I like it.

    @Grizz:
    I also like the way you hang your tarp with the priusiks... Had to check it 8 times but I am going to try somthing like that. What line do you use?

    Duncan.

    2Q/ZQ - what's the word on a Spinn version?

    We will only be making the beaks out of Sil at this point. Why?.... Cheaper (1/2 the cost of Spinn), easier to get, seconds work great for the project, and the above, therefore, make them more marketable. Not to mention ZQ has never seen or worked with Spinn and the learning curve for her at the moment isn't a priority.

    Like most things we've gotten into, there is a progression that ultimately leads to a new or modified design or choice. The way things look at the moment, we're happy with Silnylon for the project.

    Makes perfect sense from a business standpoint. Might have to see if Brian will send me some extra Spinn so I can make my own, though! Of course, the weight savings for that little bit of sil might not be worth it.
