Permethrin on ENO DN (and my hands)

So i just bought some permethrin to put on my ENO DN that I use to sleep every night on and for outdoors, and ticks and mosquitos and other critters here in NC hate us, so i decided to make my own ENO insect shield hammock... I took it outside laid it flat bottom facing up, made sure wind was low, put on chemical resistant gloves, and i sprayed away and saturated it. I hung it up on a fence, then i took off my gloves... I didn't realize that the spray was getting in my gloves and my hands were soaked in it for at least 10 mins. My hands feel kind of puffed up like when you go swimming too long and feel mildly hot... Should I worry at all? And how well do you guys think the spray works on the hammock? (Sewyer brand) thanks

Are you sure the spray was actually getting into your gloves or you just have really sweaty hands? What do the instructions on the bottle/box say about contact?

Possibly sweat... Smelled funny though and sweat has never made my hands feel numb... Could've been my mind playing tricks on me...

Yeah it's just condensation from your hands breathing, same reason you don't make your hammock or quilts out of non- breathable fabric

There is another thread on Permethin, many use it on all their gear, tents, hammocks, packs, etc. you should be safe.

Thanks for the video link DC125, Sawyer seems pretty comfortable calling it safe.

As for the poll yes you will die, no-one gets out alive, but not from the permethrin it appears.

I can't speak for the Sawyer brand but I have a concentrated bottle that I mix and then submerge hammock, tarp, socks, pants and shirt the hang outside to dry. It works wonders! It's never made me sick.

That sounds like a much cheaper option than the smaller spray bottles! In East Tennessee, nets aren't the most comfortable during the summer.

Which brand do you use and what's your mix? Do you just submerge until wet or let it soak? Thanks for sharing!
