Porch mode with a WB BlackBird & MamaJamba

When I put the MamaJamba in porch mode I rarely put both front side corners up. I like the front side head end up and open, and the foot end lower and tight, unless it's going to rain, in which case I reverse it, foot in porch and head down tight for better protection and runoff.

Anyway, when the head end of the tarp is up in porch mode I attach the BB front side pullout to the tarps front corner d-ring. This pulls the bug net out AND up, and creates a cavernous space inside the hammock. Even in windy conditions I use this method and see no negative.

Just thought I'd share something that works well. I've heard lots of BB users say they use dedicated stakes for the hammock pullouts, but using the tarps anchor points seems to work great.

Best I can do for you today.. I'm packed for a trek this weekend. I had done exactly the same as described above but attached to the split ring designed for the add-on doors, using a toggle.

I always have carried the extra stakes and still struggle hanging up on the netting getting in and out at times. This should solve that when the head end in in porch. Thinking I will add a couple of mitten hooks to the tieouts so I can connect/disconnect from the during a little easier.

    Thanks for the tip!

That is a good idea with the bug net pullout. I also liked your idea about the modified porch mode. I think that I will have to try it when it is windy, which is all the time.

Glad to help! I've added a mitten clip so I can unclip without getting up.

By far, favorite setup. I have the center pole mod so it's really spacious. With the tarps head end up I can walk under the hammock pullout. No tripping over the lines.
