Hi guys! I'm Lewis from Charleston SC...
I'm one of those guys who stumbled upon Shug's YouTube channel when looking into hammocks for camping...he steered me here. Still looking for that very first hang! I'll be lurking about until then!!

Welcome Pinestraw from the mountains of NC. I have a bunch of hobbies (follow about 15 forums on Tapatalk). Hammock forums is BY FAR my favorite internet community. The people here are incredibly helpful.
Don't rush to make that first purchase of a hammock camping rig. My first time stumbling on to the HF was mind numbing. I probably spent 8 straight hours watching Shug videos and scouring the sub forums.
Ask questions. You will get quick and sound advice.
With all that said, the absolute best thing to do starting out is to go to a group hang. I am co-hosting one next week (John Rock hang in Pisgah Forest/Brevard NC). If you can swing the 4.5 hour drive, come on up. You can try a bunch of great gear and eat some above average chili.
It's only a one mile hike to the hang spot. We can set you up with gear to hang for the weekend if you let us know if advance what you need.
Again, welcome to the fun and comfort and addiction.
