    Just Ordered My Speer Hammock

I just now placed my order for a Speer Hammock IIIA and the SPE.

I'll see how warm I sleep with this, then decide whether I want a PeaPod, Speer SnugFit UnderQuilt and Top Blanket, or JRB system (or some combination of the above) for fall and winter.

I've never even tried out a hammock, but all the praise they get here has sold me. Looking forward to the added comfort for my broken in (or is that down) body.

Thanks to everyone for all the great information here and on WB.

Now I can't wait to get it!

Congratulations on deciding to go hang yourself. I'm sure that you will really enjoy the comfort of your new hammock.

Remember, though, that there is a bit of a learning curve. Give yourself some time to try out different hangs and configurations.

Welcome. I have both SPE models and they work really well. Got down to 10 degrees last winter with an SPE and 3 pads as my sole under insulation.
I also own the No Sniveller and Nest quilts. They are fantastic.
Never a better time to be hanging. So many options.

Top notch hammock you got yourself. Congrats.

You really did make a good choice. I can't say enough good things about Ed Speer or the quality equipment he makes. What are you doing for your tarp?

The new Speer hammocks come with the new 8x10 cat tarp. Should work well. Unique feature on the ends of the tarp should really help with rain and cold wind.
This may be the best combo hammock and tarp out there. The extra foot on the hammock was a great idea. No dinky fly like the Hennessy's.

    Which unique feature is this?

Basically being able to bring the tarp ends closer together due to having 3 tie outs per side. Speer really should have a pic of this tarp on their site. Here's a good thread that talks about it as well as a pic without ends together:
