    Noobie from Tennessee

Hi Y'all! My husband and friends think I'm crazy, but I suddenly got a wild hair and bought a camping hammock. As a child, my family camped, and I hated it, but as I got older, I began to see the beauty of nature. Now, even older, camping on the ground just isn't fun anymore. I watched and laughed my way through Shug's YouTube tutorials; practiced setting up my hammock in the front yard; then set out on an overnight kayak/camping trip. I LOVED it and can't wait to go again. With all of our great state parks and natural beauty, there must be some hangers in my area. I'd love to meet people who share my interests and go hanging!

    Greetings from Chattanooga!

There's been a regular, perhaps even semi-annual hang at Meriwether Lewis near Hohenwald. A hammocker here who goes by "neo" often organizes it. Keep an eye on this forum:

    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/.../113-Southeast

and see if/when the next one is planned. I've not been to one (yet ... it's a bit far) but may remedy this at some point.

    cheers,
    cspan

Welcome to the forum from Memphis.
I am starting to kayak and camp the rivers in Arkanasas.
Fly fishing is my reason to float and hanging is my choice of
    camping. Love it.

Welcome from Nashville! Plenty of kayak campers in Tennessee and hammock backpackers too.

Feel free to check meetup.com/Nashvillebackpacker if you want.

Hi! Another Nashville resident here! I am very interested in hearing from anyone in the area, I want to know if you hang in the summer and how you deal with the bugs, critters, heat, humidity, and the ocassional pop up storm we get.

Another new to hammocks and the forum, north of you by only a few miles in Big Sandy.
Please be sure to let me know if you find out about a hang anywhere in west Tennessee.
I have a lot to learn about hanging to sleep!

I limit summer hanging, use permethrin on hammock, pepper spray on obnoxious critters, and a great tarp from Simply Light Designs for sudden rain showers.
