    Prussic problems on old tarp!

Hey all, I bought my first tarp this past January, it is a used Clark XL, it came all set up and ready to be used, ridgeline and guyline and hard ware. My problem is that in order for me to move the prussics to center the tarp or on the guylines to attach it to the stakes I have to get a set of gloves on, otherwise they just slid out of my fingers or like last time I was out they removed skin because I had to pull on them to hard to get them to move. For some reason I don't think this is normal. So do I need to redo some of the prussics or is there some other way to get them to move easier. I have only been hanging since January, so some of the terminology used is still new to me so please don't use abbreviations. Thank you for your thoughts and advice in advance.
The tarp came from Florida and I live in Wisconsin if that makes a difference.

    Unwind the prussick and redo.
Sometimes they get twisted and are difficult to move. Simple fix though...

I don't know what cordage you're using, but I've found that for zingit, prusik/klemheist are inadequate tools for the task. Many others will disagree. Search HF for "mini-ucr" for a solution you may find less frustrating to use.

    Prussic problems on old tarp!

Loosen prusik when not under tension. I don't untie it--just loosen it by pushing cord into knot and twisting it backwards? Kind of loosening both ends of prusik.
Even though I love knots--I agree this can be tedious and time consuming. AND what squidmark says.

I agree with Phantom Grappler and Squidmark but would add that if loosening does not resolve the problem, you may need to take one loop out of the Prusik to help it slide. With Zing-It, I started with one too many "loops" and also have to loosen the knot every time I slide my guy line rope. The upside is that it never slips!
