    Hi John,
yessir, I ordered the straight stitch throat and foot first thing this morning. First project was Friday night, a Fronkey bug net. And just as you've said it was pulling the no-see-um down through the genl purpose throat. I had seen the tissue paper solution somewhere else in the forums so I kept plowing along that way. Then sat around until midnight trying to get as much of that stuff off of the finished net!!

Had my first hammock hang Saturday night in the yard. Didn't sleep well - but my mind was working on another project already. I hope (eventually) I'll find the sleep as good as others have.

    Thanks for reaching out!

You are welcome, holobox, re: tissue paper. If your project fabric will take it (and no-see-um bug net will, more a garment sewing issue), a fast way to get the tissue paper out of the stitching is to wet the stitching and rub the wet stitching between your thumb and forefinger to get the tissue paper out. The straight stitch plate and presser foot may eliminate the need for tissue paper.

I haven't shown my main machine yet but I wanted to share today's find -- my Emergency Backup Sewing Machine.

    IMG_6025.jpg

I was out at a yard sale today and noticed this machine. The owner said it didn’t work (apparently it was jammed) so she was selling it for $3. I only had a 10 and two 1’s so she didn’t want to break a 10, she gave it to me for $2.

Tonight I cleaned it up and disassembled everything. I still need to oil the presser foot lever because I got it stuck and I had to force it unstuck and it needs some lubrication. I set everything back to the factory settings and sewed a couple of seams.

The machine runs fine. It doesn’t have nearly the options my Pfaff 1171 has but it sews rather quickly and the thread tension is even. This was a ridiculously good deal. My Pfaff is going in for some TLC because it’s gotten gunked up since it’s over 25 years old and hasn’t been serviced in forever. Sure, it's not the best machine but it's in good condition and you couldn't beat the price

It was a backup machine to a 401a.

Been sitting in a cabinet for it's entire life.

Serviced with original attachments and manual.

My favorite machine ever. I have a 301, 201, Necchi BU Nova and a 4423. and 2 403s because I love them so much. I hope you fall in love with it like I have. If you ever need any help, shoot me a message.

Picked up this 70’s era I think Brother Boutique 761 for 40 bucks. Never thought I would have one of these.4001A732-C5F3-4819-892F-0BB959D1E1A1.jpg

    Another one to the collection
Found it on the net for 300DKR = $48 could not resist
Singer 201K from 1946 with knee bar. Sadly no knee bar box or attachments. Only what you see.
It runs but has no power so it needs some work. Not sure the knee thing is for me so I think I will rebuild it to a foot pedal. Needs new wiring anyway.

Vanhalo - the 403 was my first. A great injector! You will really like it, but make sure you get the correct throat plates (Zig Zag and Straight Stitch) and the Singer slant shank attachments, general (zz) and straight stitch ones - not the low shank ones.

22hornet - I don't own any vintage Brothers, but they are very well spoken of.

Snowball - My favorite (I own 5 or 6, counting two 1200-1's which are 201's with a presser foot knee lift on an industrial table). I really like knee controllers and just finished cleaning a Singer 99 with a knee controller bar like yours. If you go the knee controller route, make certain that you get the correct one that is keyed to fit the particular mechanism in the base. I think there are three different Singer ones.
