I found this gem at a thrift store and I just had to have it. This brings my collection to three but it was worth it. It's a Janome machine which is Japan's premier sewing machine brand and, despite it looking like a toy, it's got the same mechanisms as their more "serious" machines. It's a 3/4 size machine which makes it easy to pull out for quick repair.

It's got "Sewing Pretty with Hello Kitty" in flowing letters along with pretty flowers and a raised Hello Kitty head. I'm an, umm, old guy shall we say, but I'm secure enough in my manhood that I can have a cute injector. Why not?

Just look at it -- it's so freakin' cute! It lists for $200 but I got it on sale for $10. Score!

Nice score, those 3/4 machines are lots of fun to sew on. I got my mom a Kenmore 1040, and it sews wonderfully and is super easy to move around & service. It struggles a bit with lots of layers, but it's a great little machine for DIY.
It is a very alert, active sheep, with a stylish, lively carriage.

I use a Juki & Pfaffs w/ assorted attachments, and have serviced lots of vintage machines. Any questions?

Manhood shmanhood, I'd love to have that machine.. and I call my machines sewing machines, not thread injectors.

I think that is outstanding! I would love to have that, if nothing else because it's kind of fun and goofy. Why not?

Picked this up 2 weeks ago. I got tired of having to drive an hour to borrow my sister’s machine. Usually retails for 150/175 had a sale for 99. Has chewed thru a rain kilt, 2 pair of tree straps, a climashield underquilt, 1.9 ripstop hammocks, and 4 diy Bandana bibs for the baby coming late March.

    Hey, what's the skinny on a Sears/Kenmore 1317?
Local for sale for $100. Looks good with case, parts and book.

...like I need another sewing machine, but...

Nov. 21, 1956 Singer 201-1. One of the best machines made. Straight stitch only and requires more maintenance than the new machines. I go thru a bottle of oil every year.

The Singer 201 is my 'go to' SS machine. I have both the 201-2 ('potted' direct drive motor) and the 201K (belted motor). I notice no difference in sewing power.

I would love to get my hands on an old Singer, particularly a 1952 vintage as that is also my birth year.
My grandmother had a beautiful, ancient treadle machine that I played with as a small child when visiting her. But alas, she passed away when I was 10 and the machine disappeared.

The 1317 is in the 158 model line which has a good reputation. Might try to talk them down a bit on the price just for fun.
